A beneficiary of the Ebonyi State Government Scholarship Programme in the United Kingdom, Ms. Salome Uwah, has been selected for the prestigious Aspen Institute UK Rising Leaders Fellowship, a recognition reserved for emerging leaders demonstrating exceptional commitment to service, innovation, and societal impact.
Announcing the achievement, Uwah expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing her selection as a testament to the transformative power of education, perseverance, and purposeful leadership.
According to her, the recognition reflects a journey she never imagined possible as a young woman from Azuogu Ngboejeogu in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
“When I began my journey, I never imagined that a young woman from Azuogu Ngboejeogu in Ebonyi State would one day be recognised alongside emerging leaders from across the United Kingdom,” she said.
She noted that the fellowship reinforces the belief that leadership is not defined by titles but by service, impact, and the determination to continue making a difference despite challenges.
Uwah also expressed appreciation to the Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for providing opportunities that enabled her to pursue and achieve her aspirations.
The Aspen Institute UK Rising Leaders Fellowship brings together individuals from diverse sectors who are committed to leading with purpose, integrity, and empathy.
Through the programme, participants engage in leadership development, collaborative learning, and discussions aimed at addressing contemporary social and economic challenges.
Uwah said she looks forward to learning from fellow leaders across the United Kingdom while strengthening her efforts to leverage artificial intelligence, education, and research as tools for positive change.
Encouraging young people to remain focused on their goals, she urged them not to underestimate the value of consistency, hard work, and continuous learning.
“Many opportunities arrive quietly, disguised as small acts of service, late nights of preparation, difficult seasons, and moments when no one is watching. Keep learning, keep growing, and keep showing up. The seeds you plant today may open doors you cannot yet see,” she stated.
She dedicated the achievement to her family, mentors, colleagues, friends, and the communities that have supported her journey, emphasizing that the recognition goes beyond personal success.
According to her, investing in people, encouraging one another, and leading with purpose creates lasting impact that extends far beyond individual accomplishments.
Uwah described her selection as another opportunity to showcase Ebonyi State’s growing presence on the global stage, declaring that the journey toward greater impact and service continues.
