The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on the ICT University Project, Chief Engr. Moses Nwamgbo Okite (JP), has congratulated students of the Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology (EBSUICT), Oferekpe, Izzi, on the successful completion of the first and second semesters of the academic session.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, Engr. Okite described the successful completion of the academic session as a reflection of the students’ resilience, dedication and commitment to academic excellence despite the demands of lectures, laboratory practicals, coursework, continuous assessments and examinations.
He urged the students to make meaningful use of the semester break by participating in the university’s Skill Acquisition Programme, emphasizing that practical skills, entrepreneurship and digital innovation are indispensable in today’s technology-driven global economy.
“The semester break should not be seen merely as a holiday, but as an opportunity to acquire practical skills, build capacity and prepare for greater academic and professional success. The future belongs to those who combine knowledge with innovation and entrepreneurship,” he said.
Engr. Okite commended Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for what he described as a revolutionary transformation of Ebonyi State’s education sector through sustained investments in science, technology and infrastructure.
According to him, the Governor’s administration has positioned Ebonyi as an emerging hub for technological education with the establishment and rapid development of the Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology at Oferekpe, alongside the University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering.
He noted that the state government has continued to invest heavily in the institution through the construction of modern academic buildings, student hostels, staff quarters and other essential infrastructure, while also expanding scholarship opportunities for Ebonyi students pursuing technology-related programmes.
The Governor’s aide further highlighted the administration’s commitment to strengthening basic education through the construction of modern classroom blocks across the state’s 13 local government areas and the provision of ICT laboratories equipped with thousands of computer systems to enhance digital literacy among pupils and students.
He also applauded the Acting Vice-Chancellor of EBSUICT, Engr. Prof. Ernest Ituma Egba, for his visionary leadership and for working closely with the university’s management, academic and non-academic staff to sustain the institution’s commitment to excellence.
Reaffirming the state government’s dedication to the growth of the institution, Engr. Okite assured that efforts were ongoing to complete the university’s permanent site and provide a world-class learning environment that promotes research, innovation, entrepreneurship and technological advancement.
He wished the students and staff a safe, restful and productive semester break and encouraged them to return for the next academic session with renewed commitment to academic excellence and the continued development of Ebonyi State.
