The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has presented Chief Simeon Onuoha, popularly known as Omezua, as its Chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming Local Government Council election in Edda Local Government Area, describing him as an experienced grassroots leader with the capacity to drive development and strengthen local governance.
According to the party, Chief Onuoha’s emergence reflects its commitment to fielding competent, experienced, and people-oriented leaders capable of delivering quality governance at the grassroots.
A successful businessman with more than four decades of professional and political experience, Onuoha has built a reputation for hard work, integrity, and dedicated public service. His political journey includes serving as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the then Afikpo South Local Government Area, now Edda, from 2008 to 2016. He also served as a Technical Assistant in the Federal Ministry of Power before joining the All Progressives Congress, where he is currently an active member in Nguzu Ward.
The APC noted that the choice of Chief Onuoha aligns with the development-driven leadership style of Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whose administration has consistently emphasized competent leadership and effective service delivery across the state.
Widely known by his traditional title, Omezua, the chairmanship candidate is regarded by many as a humble, approachable, and unifying figure with a longstanding record of loyalty to constituted authority and commitment to community development. His ability to foster peace and bring people together across political and social divides has earned him widespread respect within Edda and beyond.
As the APC campaign train arrived in Edda on Wednesday, party leaders expressed confidence that Chief Onuoha possesses the experience, vision, and leadership qualities needed to consolidate ongoing developmental efforts, strengthen grassroots administration, and improve the welfare of residents across the local government area.
The party urged the people of Edda to support the APC candidate in the forthcoming council election, expressing optimism that his administration would deepen inclusive governance, accelerate community development, and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.
The endorsement was conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Leo Ekene Oketa, Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on New Media.
