Hon. Chidiebere Onyema Alo, popularly known as Ikedu Oha, has emerged as a prominent young grassroots politician and the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Born on June 7, 1985, into the family of Chief and Mrs. Alo Nwudele of Unagboke Inyimegu Village, Izzi Unuphu Autonomous Community, Alo is a farmer, businessman, community leader, grassroots politician and committed Christian.
His leadership experience spans more than a decade, having served as Village Head Chairman of Unagboke Inyimegu from 2012 to 2021. He also served as Special Assistant on Security to a former Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area and was elected Ward Councillor for Izzi Unuphu Ward 10 for two terms.
Alo is currently completing his degree programme in Political Science at Ebonyi State University, adding academic training to his years of practical experience in grassroots administration and community leadership.
Beyond partisan politics, Ikedu Oha has been associated with initiatives promoting youth empowerment, peace-building, education, healthcare, sports and community development. His supporters maintain that these engagements have strengthened his connection with the people and demonstrated his commitment to grassroots service.
His candidacy is also being viewed within the broader emphasis on youthful leadership under the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, which has continued to promote the participation of young people in leadership and governance.
With the APC campaign train now moving into Abakaliki Local Government Area, Ikedu Oha is presenting himself to the electorate as a candidate with grassroots experience, community connections and a commitment to purposeful local government leadership.
For his supporters, his emergence represents a new generation of leadership capable of combining youthful energy with experience in community service to advance the development of Abakaliki Local Government Area.
