The Ebonyi State All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign train is in Ishielu Local Government Area on Tuesday as the party’s chairmanship candidate, Hon. Mrs. Peace Ifeoma Agwu, seeks a second term in office on the strength of her experience, grassroots engagement and record of service.
Agwu, who is seeking to retain her position as Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, is being presented to the people by the APC as a candidate with a broad understanding of the needs and aspirations of the local government.
A farmer, businesswoman, community leader and politician, Agwu has served in different capacities, including as Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Education, before becoming Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area.
Her supporters say her experience across healthcare, education, business and grassroots administration has shaped her approach to leadership and given her practical insight into the challenges confronting residents of the local government.
Particular emphasis has been placed on her interventions in support of women, farmers, youths, education and community development. Through personal initiatives, she has reportedly supported farmers, elderly women and young people, while also providing scholarship opportunities for children and students.
Her campaign is anchored on continuity, with the argument that her experience in local government administration provides a foundation for consolidating existing achievements and expanding services to residents.
The APC campaign in Ishielu is therefore expected to focus on Agwu’s record of grassroots engagement and her promise to improve service delivery if given another mandate.
A statement issued by Leo Ekene Oketa, Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, described the second-term bid as an opportunity for Agwu to build on her experience, strengthen ongoing initiatives and further impact the lives of residents across Ishielu.
Oketa said Agwu’s journey from the healthcare sector through education and business to local government leadership reflects a practical understanding of grassroots realities and the responsibilities of public service.
According to him, the campaign is not only about seeking another mandate but also about sustaining leadership that is familiar with the needs of the people and committed to further development of Ishielu Local Government Area.
