Governor of Ebonyi State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has commissioned a number of landmark projects executed by the Ivo Local Government Area administration and formally presented the APC flag to the party’s chairmanship candidate for the August 22, 2026 council elections, Hon. Michael Kalu Anyim.
The commissioning and campaign flag-off took place at the Ivo Council Headquarters in Isiaka, where the Governor, represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF, also presented the party flag to Anyim and his vice-chairmanship running mate.
The projects commissioned by the Governor included an ultra-modern commercial market complex with 300 lock-up shops at Amaeze Ishiagu, the Atani Bridge linking Umobor and Akaeze, the Ugwu Iyialualu Concrete Road in Ihie Ishiagu, and a multipurpose administrative block at the Ivo Council Secretariat, Isiaka.
Speaking through his Deputy, Governor Nwifuru commended the Chairman of Ivo LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Ajah, for what he described as signature projects and his efforts toward promoting peace, unity and political cohesion among stakeholders in the local government.
He urged the people of Ivo to sustain their support for the APC and vote massively for the party’s candidates in the forthcoming local government elections.
Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, called on the people of Ivo to uphold the zoning and equity arrangement guiding the rotation of the governorship among the three senatorial zones.
Emegha said respect for the political charter of equity remained essential to sustaining unity and peaceful political participation in Ebonyi State. He equally urged voters in Ivo to support the APC candidates in the August 22 council elections.
The Chairman of the State APC Local Government Campaign Council, Amb. Frank Ogbuewu; Chairman of the occasion, Prince Nwabueze Ajah; Senator Anthony Okorie Ani; Hon. Kama Nkemkanma; Hon. Onyebuchi Ogbadu; and Engr. Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, among others, commended Governor Nwifuru for his administration’s development initiatives.
They assured the Governor that Ivo LGA would remain a stronghold of the APC.
In his remarks, Hon. Emmanuel Ajah expressed appreciation to Governor Nwifuru for granting local governments greater administrative and financial autonomy, which he said enabled his administration to execute projects with direct benefits to residents.
The APC chairmanship candidate, Hon. Michael Kalu Anyim, thanked Governor Nwifuru and the party leadership for entrusting him with the party’s ticket.
Anyim pledged that, if elected, his administration would pursue visionary, inclusive and people-oriented governance focused on the development and wellbeing of the people of Ivo.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa, and other prominent APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters.
