Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has paid tribute to his late stepmother, Lolo Nwankwonshii Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu, describing her as a loving, compassionate and selfless matriarch whose values and sacrifices helped shape his formative years.
The late Lolo Nwankwonshii was laid to rest on Friday at the family compound in Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

In a heartfelt tribute following her burial, Governor Nwifuru said his late stepmother played a significant role in his upbringing through her motherly care, wise counsel, discipline and unwavering commitment to family unity.
He described her as a remarkable woman whose influence extended beyond her immediate family, noting that her legacy of love, generosity, kindness and devotion would continue to inspire generations.

According to the governor, although her death had created a painful void in the family, the values she instilled in her children and the enduring impact of her life remained sources of comfort.
At the age of 74, the late matriarch left behind a legacy of selflessness, sacrifice and dedication to family, which the governor said would remain indelible in the hearts of those she nurtured.

Governor Nwifuru also expressed profound appreciation to his colleagues, fellow governors, political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, government functionaries, stakeholders across Ebonyi State and Nigeria, friends, associates and residents of the state who joined his family to honour the deceased.
He acknowledged the support, prayers, condolence messages and expressions of solidarity received during the period of mourning, describing them as invaluable sources of comfort and strength to the family.

The governor prayed that Almighty God would grant his late stepmother eternal rest and give the family the grace to preserve the enduring legacy she left behind.
Bidding her farewell, Nwifuru affectionately described the deceased as “Nwanyi Obioma” and “Nwanyi du ree,” expressing hope in the resurrection and the promise of a reunion beyond death.

“Rest in peace, Mama. Your love lives on, and your legacy will never be forgotten,” the governor said.
