Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has expressed profound appreciation to individuals, organisations, political leaders, government officials, religious leaders and well-wishers who supported his family during the funeral ceremonies of his late mother, Lolo Nwankwonshii Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu.
Nwifuru made the remarks after attending a Thanksgiving Mass with his family at Emmanuel Parish, Edupfuachi, to thank Almighty God for the successful funeral of his beloved mother.
The governor, on behalf of his family, expressed gratitude to all those who offered prayers, made financial and other contributions, participated in the funeral ceremonies and stood by the family during the period of mourning.
He particularly acknowledged the Central Committee, led by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Prof. Emmanuel Echiegu; the Local Organising Committee; the Nigerian Governors’ Forum; former governors of Ebonyi State; the state’s founding fathers; the Elders Council; and stakeholders across the state.
The governor also commended Chief Paul Nwogha for dedicating several days to ensuring the success of the funeral arrangements, as well as the Chairman of the Works Committee, Engr. Obasi Abara, for his contributions.
He extended his appreciation to government officials, organisations, the Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, friends, well-wishers and all those who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth conduct of the funeral ceremonies.
Nwifuru further expressed gratitude to his deputy governor for holding forth during the period, ensuring that governance continued seamlessly while he attended to his family responsibilities.
The governor noted that the show of love, solidarity and support from people who travelled from far and near had brought comfort to his family during a difficult period, adding that their kindness and thoughtfulness would remain indelible in their hearts.
He prayed for God’s abundant blessings, protection over the families of all those who supported him and the grace for the people to continue to live together in love, unity and service to humanity.
The governor concluded by returning all glory to God for His faithfulness and expressing his family’s enduring gratitude to everyone who stood with them during their moment of grief.
