Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and former Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, have paid glowing tributes to the late traditional ruler of Ikwo Local Government Area, HRH Eze Francis Eze Igwe, describing him as a man of faith whose life was marked by exemplary leadership and service to humanity.
The tributes were delivered during a Service of Songs held in honour of the late monarch at his royal palace in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Governor Nwifuru, who was represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF, commiserated with the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State and Board Member of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe, over the death of his father.
The governor described the deceased as a true hero, recognising his enduring contributions to grassroots leadership, politics and the service of God.
He urged the bereaved family to draw strength from the impactful life of their patriarch and take pride in the enduring legacy he left behind.
Similarly, Osinbajo described the late traditional ruler as a committed Christian who distinguished himself through decades of public service, having served as a councillor, member of the State House of Assembly and traditional ruler.
The former vice president emphasised the value of a righteous life, noting that God’s assessment of a person’s life transcends the circumstances surrounding their death.
He encouraged the family to uphold the noble principles and values exemplified by the late monarch, stressing the importance of preserving his legacy for future generations.
The Service of Songs featured soul-stirring performances by renowned gospel artistes and Evangelist Uche Umeh, providing an atmosphere of worship, reflection and celebration of the deceased’s life.
The event attracted prominent personalities from across the country, including the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa; former deputy governors from various states; members of the National Assembly; and members of the Ebonyi State Executive Council, among other dignitaries.
Earlier, Osinbajo was received at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, by Deputy Governor Obila and members of the Ebonyi State Executive Council upon his arrival for the funeral activities.
The gathering provided an opportunity for family members, political leaders, government officials and other well-wishers to honour the late monarch’s contributions to his community, public service and Christian faith.
