The Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on New Media, Leo Ekene Oketa, has commended the governor for his investments in education and human capital development, describing the administration’s scholarship programme as a strategic intervention capable of transforming lives and securing the future of the state.
Oketa said the governor was making tremendous contributions to the lives of Ebonyi people through policies and programmes anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs, noting that the impact of the administration’s investments would extend beyond its tenure and benefit generations to come.
He particularly highlighted the state government’s sponsorship of qualified Ebonyi indigenes for postgraduate studies in Nigeria and overseas, describing the initiative as a significant investment in building a skilled and knowledgeable population.
As an example of the programme’s impact, Oketa cited the experience of his brother, Agu Daniel Chika, who recently returned from the United Kingdom after spending two years under the Ebonyi State Scholarship Programme.
According to him, Chika has successfully completed his Master’s degree and is currently in the first year of his Doctoral programme, an achievement he described as a testament to the opportunities created by the Nwifuru administration.
Expressing delight at reuniting with Chika after two years, Oketa said he was particularly impressed by his academic progress, personal development and positive experiences following his scholarship-sponsored studies abroad.
He noted that investments in advanced education would produce far-reaching benefits, particularly in strengthening professional capacity, developing human resources and equipping beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to society.
Oketa maintained that the governor’s education policies were not merely immediate interventions but long-term investments whose benefits would continue to manifest long after the expiration of his administration.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Nwifuru for the scholarship initiative and wished Chika continued success in his academic pursuits and personal development.
