Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on New Media, Leo Ekene Oketa, has expressed profound appreciation to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for appointing him to lead the Directorate of New Media and serve as a member of the party’s Communications Team ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oketa, who conveyed his appreciation in a statement dated November 7, 2026, described the appointment as a huge honour and a demonstration of the party’s recognition of the importance of new media in modern political communication and electoral engagement.
He said the task before the Directorate was clear: to contribute meaningfully to securing electoral victory for all APC candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
According to him, the New Media Directorate occupies a strategic position in the party’s campaign structure, with the responsibility of driving public engagement, shaping conversations, deepening public understanding and strengthening support for the party and its candidates.
Oketa particularly commended Governor Nwifuru and the APC leadership for establishing a dedicated Directorate of New Media, noting that the decision went beyond individual appointments and demonstrated institutional recognition of the contributions of new media practitioners to political communication.
He maintained that the establishment of the directorate was an indication that the work of media practitioners was valued and that their contributions were considered essential to the party’s electoral objectives.
Pledging total commitment to the assignment on behalf of members of the directorate, Oketa assured that the team would work diligently, remain coordinated and discharge its responsibilities with discipline, professionalism and a strong sense of purpose.
He further stated that the directorate would focus on communicating the achievements of the APC-led government at all levels through facts, truth and verifiable records rather than manufactured narratives or propaganda.
“Our responsibility is not to manufacture narratives or engage in propaganda, but to serve as credible messengers of truth, facts and verifiable achievements,” he stated.
He added that the directorate would build a new media movement anchored on responsible communication, honest engagement and the effective amplification of the achievements of the party and its candidates.
The Governor’s aide also acknowledged the contributions of individuals working behind the scenes to promote the administration’s achievements across various social media platforms, stressing that both recognised and unrecognised members had important roles to play in the collective assignment.
He assured that no contribution would be overlooked, emphasising that every voice mattered in the collective effort to strengthen the party’s communication machinery and secure victory in 2027.
Oketa reaffirmed his appreciation to Governor Nwifuru for the confidence reposed in him, expressing optimism that the Directorate of New Media would deliver on its mandate and contribute to the continued progress of Ebonyi State.
