The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has inaugurated its 2027 Campaign Council to coordinate the party’s campaign activities ahead of the forthcoming general RFC elections.
The inauguration, held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Remeritona Hotel, was performed by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who expressed confidence in the party’s preparations, citing his administration’s achievements in infrastructure development, human capital investment and other critical sectors.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Nwifuru said his administration had fulfilled approximately 98 per cent of the promises made to the people during the 2023 electioneering campaign, noting that the achievements were in line with the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda, which serves as the administration’s social contract with the people.
The Governor recalled that the administration had committed itself to transforming the education sector, including upgrading the College of Education to a University of Education, improving educational infrastructure and constructing faculty buildings.
He also highlighted the construction of 43 primary schools and the provision of laptops to enhance students’ digital literacy and access to modern learning opportunities.
On agriculture, Nwifuru disclosed that the government had reactivated the farm at Hatchery and procured tractors, machinery and other agricultural implements to promote mechanised farming and strengthen food production.
He further listed improvements in the ease of doing business, the clearance of outstanding pension and gratuity arrears, and the regular promotion of qualified civil servants among the administration’s achievements.
Addressing other sectors, the Governor highlighted efforts to restore peace in previously troubled communities, improve electricity supply in Afikpo and other local government areas, establish an ICT University, maintain a clean environment and expand investments in youth development, sports, culture and tourism.
He also mentioned the government’s interventions in addressing housing deficits and the reactivation of the Ebonyi International Airport as part of its broader development agenda.
The newly inaugurated campaign council is structured into various directorates, including Finance, Security, Advisory, Media, Works, Infrastructure, Youth Mobilisation and Women Mobilisation, with members charged with coordinating the party’s activities across the state.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the APC, Stanley Okoro Emegha, urged members of the council to approach their responsibilities with commitment, dedication and a strong sense of purpose.
Emegha also maintained that, in the spirit of equity and fairness, no Ebonyi indigene was morally obligated to challenge the incumbent governor in the 2027 governorship election.
Former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Greece, Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu, was named Director-General of the Campaign Council, with deputy directors appointed across the state’s three senatorial districts.
The inauguration formally signals the commencement of the APC’s organisational preparations for the 2027 general elections in Ebonyi State.
