The Ebonyi State Council of Elders has condemned in totality the killing of Ebonyi Indigenes in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In a statement released by the Council and signed by the Chairman, Engr. Ben Okah, the Elders called for the swift arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
“We, members of Ebonyi State Council of Elders, strongly condemn in totality the gruesome killing of 13 Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji Orumba South, Anambra State. We also recall that earlier this year, a video displaying Abakaliki people arrested by Ogbaru indigenes in the same Anambra State on the ground of being thieves went viral.
The statement continued.
“It is a well-known fact that these people gathered for their monthly meeting and, as such, did not breach the law.
While we commiserate with our Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on the death of these 13 patriots, we request that every effort be made to unravel and arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act.
We also call on the Government of Anambra State to institute a high-powered panel to investigate the matter as a matter of urgency.
Recall that 13 Ebonyians residing in Ogboji, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State were killed on Monday, June 30, 2025, by unknown gunmen during their monthly meeting. The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has condemned the dastardly act, calling for calm and swift investigation.
