The Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting cancer survivors and strengthening efforts toward cancer awareness, early detection and improved access to quality healthcare across Nigeria.
Mrs. Nwifuru made the pledge after joining fellow First Ladies from across the country at the Cancer Survivors Gala held in Owerri, Imo State. The event served as a platform for reflection, solidarity and renewed commitment to improving the lives of cancer survivors.

Describing cancer survivors as symbols of courage, hope, and resilience, the Ebonyi First Lady said the gathering reinforced the collective resolve of Nigeria’s First Ladies to champion initiatives that promote cancer awareness, encourage early diagnosis, and expand access to quality treatment and care.
She commended the members of the First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) for their unwavering dedication to advancing cancer awareness, supporting patients, and improving healthcare delivery.

She also praised the Chairperson of FLAC and Wife of the Imo State Governor, Chioma Uzodimma, for her visionary leadership and commitment to uniting stakeholders in the fight against cancer.
Mrs. Nwifuru further applauded the presentation of support to cancer survivors during the event and the generosity of the Friends of FLAC, who raised over ₦108 million to strengthen cancer advocacy, patient support programmes, and healthcare interventions nationwide.

She reaffirmed her commitment to standing with cancer survivors and working alongside relevant stakeholders to ensure that every Nigerian has access to quality cancer prevention, treatment and care.
