The Ebonyi State Government has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the condition of the Izzo/Amaeze Housing Estate in Ishielu Local Government Area, describing the claims as false, misleading and politically motivated.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Francis Ori, said the ministry was compelled to respond to what it described as “malicious and misleading publications” by the Ebonyi State PDP Publicity Secretary, Prince Darlington Peter Onwe.
According to the commissioner, the Izzo/Amaeze Housing Estate, comprising 140 housing units, has been completed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and is awaiting commissioning and allocation to beneficiaries by the state government.
He further disclosed that supporting infrastructure within the estate is currently being completed by relevant ministries.
“The construction of internal roads within the estate is ongoing by the Ministry of Works. Similarly, water reticulation is being carried out by the Ministry of Water Resources, while electrification is being handled by the Ministry of Power and Energy,” the statement said.
The government maintained that the ongoing works demonstrate its commitment to delivering a fully functional housing estate rather than rushing to commission an incomplete project.
The commissioner urged residents of Ebonyi State and the general public to disregard the PDP’s claims, insisting that they were intended to create unnecessary public dissatisfaction through what he described as “half-truths, defamation, contradictions and deliberate omissions.”
He stated that Ebonyians are politically discerning enough to distinguish between constructive criticism and politically motivated propaganda.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to development, the commissioner said Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru remains focused on delivering his constitutional mandate and will not be distracted by what he termed political attacks.
He added that the governor’s administration remains committed to pursuing developmental projects across the state with courage, integrity and compassion.
