The National Coordinator of Ebonyi Students in Politics, Comrade Jonah Bonaventure Alidor, has commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for what he described as a visionary commitment to education through the state’s United Kingdom postgraduate scholarship programme.
In a press statement, Alidor described the initiative as a landmark investment in human capital development, noting that the outstanding academic performances of Ebonyi scholars in the UK reflect the intelligence, resilience and excellence of Ebonyi youths when provided with the right opportunities.
He particularly applauded Governor Nwifuru’s decision to upgrade the beneficiaries’ sponsorship from Master’s degree programmes to fully funded PhD studies following their exceptional academic achievements, describing the gesture as evidence of a leadership style that rewards excellence and encourages academic growth.
According to him, the scholarship programme goes beyond educational sponsorship, representing a strategic investment in the future of Ebonyi State by producing globally competitive professionals capable of driving socioeconomic and technological development.
The group also acknowledged the state government’s continued sponsorship of hundreds of postgraduate students in Nigerian universities, describing it as further proof of the administration’s commitment to education as a sustainable tool for development and empowerment.
Alidor congratulated the scholarship beneficiaries for making Ebonyi State proud on the global stage and urged them to remain disciplined, hardworking and committed to excellence. He encouraged them to return home with the knowledge and expertise needed to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
Reaffirming its support for the initiative, Ebonyi Students in Politics congratulated Governor Nwifuru for setting what it described as a commendable standard in educational advancement and human capital development, expressing confidence that the programme would inspire more young Ebonyians to pursue academic excellence while positioning the state as a model for educational investment in Nigeria.
