The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially commenced its campaign for the forthcoming Local Government Council Elections in Ebonyi State, beginning with Ikwo Local Government Area ahead of the polls scheduled for the end of August.
The party’s campaign in Ikwo is being spearheaded by its chairmanship candidate, Hon. Chidi Nwode, who has been described by the APC as a young, energetic, visionary, and people-oriented leader committed to advancing grassroots development.
According to the party, Hon. Nwode’s emergence as the APC candidate reflects the confidence reposed in the younger generation by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and the party’s leadership. The APC said the nomination underscores its commitment to promoting capable, innovative, and responsible young leaders with the vision and capacity to deliver sustainable development at the grassroots.
The party stated that Hon. Nwode’s candidacy is aimed at consolidating the achievements of previous administrations while introducing fresh ideas and modern approaches to accelerate development across Ikwo Local Government Area.
As part of his campaign activities, the APC candidate has embarked on extensive consultations with stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, women, youths, and other interest groups. The engagements, according to the party, have further strengthened public confidence in his candidacy and reinforced support for his vision of a more prosperous, inclusive, and progressive Ikwo.
Expressing optimism ahead of the election, the APC said it is confident that the people of Ikwo will give Hon. Nwode overwhelming support at the polls, citing his competence, accessibility, and commitment to selfless service.
The party added that the campaign marks the beginning of its efforts to deepen grassroots governance and deliver greater democratic dividends to the people of Ikwo through purposeful and inclusive leadership.
