The Chairman, House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, National Assembly, Abuja, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, has congratulated Nigerians and the people of Ebonyi State on the 66th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria and the 30th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State.
Ogah, who represents the people of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, described the anniversaries as an opportunity to reflect on the journey of the country and the state while celebrating the resilience, hard work and enterprise of the people.
In a congratulatory message, the federal lawmaker commended the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for its investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, human capital development and workers’ welfare under the People’s Charter of Needs.
He highlighted the provision of more than 1,000 local and overseas scholarships, the development of the University of ICT and University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering, construction of 43 model secondary schools, enrolment of 137,133 residents in the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Scheme, recruitment of more than 2,000 workers across critical sectors, as well as continued attention to pensions and gratuities.
Ogah said the interventions had contributed to the development of the state and expressed his commitment to working with all levels of government and relevant stakeholders to advance the interests of his constituents and contribute to the continued progress of Ebonyi State.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Ebonyians at home and abroad, noting that their resilience and dedication remained important to the growth and development of the state.
The lawmaker called for continued unity and peaceful coexistence across communities, expressing hope that Nigeria and Ebonyi State would continue to prosper.
He wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day and Ebonyians a happy 30th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State.
