Ebonyi State Governor and Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has officially presented the party’s flag to the APC Chairmanship candidate for Ikwo Local Government Area, Hon. Henry Chidi Nwode, and his running mate, as the party formally launched its campaign for the August 22, 2026, Local Government elections.
The flag presentation took place during the APC Local Government Election Campaign flag-off held in Ikwo LGA, where party leaders urged members and supporters to mobilize massively for victory at the polls.
Representing Governor Nwifuru at the event, the Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, commended the people and stakeholders of Ikwo for their overwhelming support and unwavering loyalty to the administration. She called on party faithful across the local government to intensify grassroots mobilization and ensure a decisive victory for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi, who chaired the event, praised the large turnout of supporters and urged the people of Ikwo to remain united and committed to the APC.Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, described Ikwo as one of the party’s strongest political bases, expressing confidence that the APC would record a resounding victory in the local government election.
The Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, said the people of Ikwo would repay Governor Nwifuru’s developmental interventions in the area by delivering overwhelming votes for the ruling party.
Similarly, the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, OON, appreciated Governor Nwifuru and the First Lady for their commitment to the development of Ikwo, assuring the party of total electoral support.
Chairman of the APC Campaign Council for Ebonyi Central Zone, Amb. Frank Ogbuewu, reaffirmed the readiness and unity of party members in Ikwo to secure victory for the APC.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Associate Prof. Ben Odoh Uruchi, alongside the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Nwankwo, applauded Governor Nwifuru’s developmental achievements and maintained that Ikwo, the largest local government area in Ebonyi State, would demonstrate its political strength by delivering the highest number of votes for the APC.
Speaking after receiving the party’s flag, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Ikwo LGA, Hon. Henry Chidi Nwode, pledged to operate an inclusive administration focused on sustainable development and improved welfare for residents if elected.
The campaign rally also featured the commissioning of a bungalow built for a widow, underscoring the administration’s commitment to social welfare. The event attracted a large gathering of APC leaders, members of the State Executive Council, elder statesmen, women and youth groups, as well as party supporters from across the local government area.
