Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has condoled with former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Prof. John Kennedy Opara, over the death of his mother, Late Ezinne Christiana Opara, who passed away at the age of 83.
Governor Nwifuru conveyed his condolences during the funeral Mass held in honour of the deceased in Mbaise, Imo State, where he was represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF.
The Governor described the late Ezinne Christiana Opara as a virtuous matriarch who lived an exemplary life devoted to the service of God and humanity.
According to him, the values of discipline, love, faith and righteousness instilled by the deceased are reflected in the achievements and character of her children.
Governor Nwifuru commended the Opara family for giving their matriarch a dignified and befitting burial, urging them to preserve and uphold the enduring legacies she left behind.
He particularly encouraged the family to remain committed to the principles of faith, hard work, integrity and service to humanity, which characterised the life of their late mother.
The funeral Mass attracted prominent personalities from across the country, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan; former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; Imo State Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru; former state governors; members of the diplomatic corps; federal lawmakers; and leaders from the religious and private sectors.
The gathering provided an opportunity for family members, friends, political leaders and dignitaries to honour the memory of the late Ezinne Christiana Opara and celebrate a life described as one of faith, sacrifice and service.
