
The new Commissioner for Environment in Ebonyi State, Hon. Sylvester Nwenugwu Nwite, has pledged to build on the state’s environmental sanitation efforts, declaring that “the Ministry of Environment is the image of the state” because cleanliness reflects the character of its people.
The commissioner made the pledge during his assumption of office, promising fairness, teamwork and improved service delivery while calling on staff to support Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s vision of making Ebonyi the cleanest state in Nigeria.
According to him, achieving a cleaner Ebonyi will require the collective commitment of government officials, ministry personnel and residents, stressing that environmental sanitation remains a shared responsibility.
The outgoing Commissioner for Environment, Rt. Hon. Victor Chukwu Uzoma, expressed gratitude to the ministry’s staff for their support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor to ensure continuity in the ministry’s programmes.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Lynda Alo, assured the new commissioner of the ministry’s loyalty and commitment, pledging the full support of the management and staff in advancing the ministry’s mandate.
The renewed commitment underscores the Ebonyi State Government’s determination to sustain environmental sanitation initiatives and strengthen efforts towards making the state one of the cleanest in Nigeria.
