The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational transformation and technological advancement through the continued development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) University of Nigeria, located at Oferekpe Agbaja in Izzi Local Government Area.
The ICT University, designed to meet global standards in technology-driven education, is one of the landmark projects of the Nwifuru administration.

The institution is expected to provide world-class learning opportunities, foster innovation, and equip young people with the digital skills needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive global economy.
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the institution’s infrastructure, Governor Nwifuru yesterday received the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, during a visit to the university.

A major highlight of the visit was the commissioning of the newly completed and fully furnished Prof. Fidelis Ogah Senior Staff Quarters by Prof. Yilwatda.
The state-of-the-art facility was constructed by the Ebonyi State Government to provide quality accommodation for senior staff and further enhance the university’s capacity for excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.

Speaking on the significance of the project, Governor Nwifuru noted that the development underscores his administration’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure, creating a conducive learning environment, and positioning Ebonyi as a leading hub for technology, innovation, and human capital development.
Education stakeholders have described the ICT University as a visionary initiative capable of accelerating socio-economic growth, attracting academic and technological investments, and creating opportunities for the state’s growing youth population.

Beyond its physical structures, the institution symbolizes a deliberate effort to build a knowledge-based economy anchored on innovation, skills acquisition, and sustainable development.
Governor Nwifuru expressed appreciation to Prof. Yilwatda for commissioning the facility and to Governor Uzodimma for his support and solidarity, noting that their presence reflects a shared commitment to impactful governance and national development.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue investing in projects that strengthen institutions, improve lives, and secure a brighter future for the people of Ebonyi State, in line with the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
