Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to the party’s Ishielu Local Government Area chairmanship candidate, Hon. Mrs. Ifeoma Peace Agwu, ahead of the August 22, 2026 local government elections.
The flag presentation took place during the grand flag-off of the APC local government campaign held at Ezillo, the headquarters of Ishielu LGA.
Governor Nwifuru, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF, also presented the party’s mandate to the vice-chairmanship candidate.
The governor commended the people and political stakeholders in Ishielu for their continued support for his administration and the APC.
He also praised the incumbent council leadership for promoting peace, fostering unity among political stakeholders and extending development initiatives to communities across the local government.
Nwifuru urged the electorate to convert their support for the administration and the APC into votes for all the party’s candidates during the forthcoming council elections.
The State Chairman of the APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, described politics as a relationship built on trust and mutual goodwill.
He called on the people of Ishielu to reciprocate what he described as Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to the people and his administration’s developmental achievements by voting massively for APC candidates across the wards.
Also speaking at the campaign, the Chairman of the State APC Local Government Campaign Council, Amb. Frank Ogbuewu, alongside Senator Julius Ali Ucha, Rt. Hon. Joseph Nwobashi, Engr. Ben Okah, Senator Obinna Ogba and Hon. Arinze Lucas, appealed to the electorate to sustain the APC’s political strength in Ishielu by voting for all its candidates.
The Commissioner for Special Projects, Amb. Dr. Ngozi M. Obichukwu, and the APC State Women Leader, Mrs. Queendaline Nwigwe, assured Governor Nwifuru of the continued support of women and youth groups in Ishielu towards the party’s success at the polls.
In her remarks, the incumbent Council Chairman and APC chairmanship candidate, Hon. Ifeoma Peace Agwu, expressed appreciation to Governor Nwifuru and the people of Ishielu for the confidence reposed in her.
Agwu pledged to build on her achievements in office and pursue more developmental projects across the local government if given another mandate.
The campaign flag-off attracted a large gathering of APC supporters, political stakeholders, community leaders, elder statesmen and various support groups from across Ishielu Local Government Area.
