Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance, saying the government remains focused on improving the quality of life of citizens through the implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
Governor Nwifuru stated this while declaring open a two-day workshop on Strategic Citizens Engagement, Sensitisation and Showcase of Achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ebonyi State Government, held in Abakaliki.
Represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, the governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms and efforts to reposition Nigeria for sustainable economic growth.
He said Ebonyi State had continued to consolidate previous developmental gains while strengthening transparency, accountability and citizen-focused governance.
According to him, the People’s Charter of Needs remains a central framework of his administration’s development strategy, with emphasis on projects and policies that directly respond to the needs and aspirations of the people.
Governor Nwifuru highlighted what he described as verifiable achievements recorded across critical sectors, including education, healthcare, road infrastructure, human capital development, agriculture and security.
He challenged opposition politicians and other critics of the administration to assess the government based on tangible projects, measurable outcomes and verifiable evidence rather than political rhetoric.
The governor further emphasized the importance of effective communication and citizens’ engagement in strengthening public trust and ensuring that residents are adequately informed about government policies, programmes and achievements.
The two-day workshop was organised by Iykon Global Foundation, in collaboration with the Ebonyi State Ministry of Information and State Orientation, to promote strategic communication, citizens’ participation and awareness of government programmes at both the federal and state levels.
The event attracted government officials, legislators, civil society leaders, information officers and other political stakeholders.
Among those in attendance were the member representing his constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kama Nkemkanma; Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike; Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh; Chief Ben Okah; Ambassador Ephraim Nwonu, Executive Director of Iykon Global Foundation; members of the State Executive Council and other key stakeholders.
The workshop is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to examine government policies, strengthen citizens’ engagement and showcase development initiatives being implemented under President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru.
