A member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue (EBSIRS), Nwedu Abraham Nwedu, has praised the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for expanding educational opportunities through the state’s Foreign Scholarship Scheme, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of Ebonyi State.
Nwedu said Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to human capital development is driven by the belief that the future of the state depends on producing globally competitive graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills required to excel in an increasingly competitive world.
According to him, the People’s Charter of Needs administration introduced the Foreign Scholarship Scheme to provide qualified Ebonyi students with the opportunity to pursue higher education in reputable institutions across the globe.
“Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru believes that the future of Ebonyi State will be built by globally competitive minds. The Foreign Scholarship Scheme is opening global doors for our young people and preparing them to become future leaders and professionals,” Nwedu stated.
He noted that the programme is already producing remarkable outcomes, as many beneficiaries who have successfully completed their Master’s degree programmes have progressed to doctoral (PhD) studies in universities across different parts of the world.
Nwedu described the development as evidence that the scholarship initiative is achieving its objective of equipping Ebonyi youths with advanced knowledge and international exposure that will contribute to the state’s long-term development.
He said the transformation of beneficiaries from students in Ebonyi classrooms to graduates of leading international institutions reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to education and capacity building.
According to him, the scholarship programme represents the practical implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda by investing in people and creating opportunities for young citizens to realise their full potential.
“Governor Nwifuru is not only governing; he is making strategic investments in human capital that will shape the future of Ebonyi State for generations to come. By empowering our youths with world-class education, the administration is building a stronger, more competitive and globally connected Ebonyi,” Nwedu added.
He expressed confidence that the initiative would continue to produce highly skilled professionals, researchers and innovators who would contribute significantly to the socio-economic growth of Ebonyi State and Nigeria.
