Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing logistics and operational support to the Nigerian Army, describing the military as a vital partner in sustaining peace and security across the state.
Governor Nwifuru gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Abakaliki, ahead of the passing-out parade for the 90 Regular Recruits Intake at the newly established Depot, Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda.

The governor commended the Chief of Army Staff for facilitating the establishment of the Army depot in Ebonyi State, describing the development as a landmark achievement that would strengthen national security and create new opportunities for the state.
“I lack words today because what the Chief of Army Staff is doing for us is commendable and remarkable. We sincerely thank him for the establishment of the Depot, Nigerian Army, in Ebonyi State,” Nwifuru said.
He attributed the prevailing peace in the state to the professionalism and patriotism of security personnel, particularly the military.

According to the governor, Ebonyi has not experienced significant security challenges since the assumption of office of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, noting that the state’s peaceful atmosphere deserves continued support.
“Since the assumption of duty of the GOC 82 Division, we have not recorded any insecurity. This is because God has blessed us with patriotic officers,” he stated, while reiterating his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting the military.

In his remarks, Lieutenant General Shaibu praised Governor Nwifuru’s leadership, saying his understanding of governance and security has contributed significantly to the peace, stability, and development currently being enjoyed in Ebonyi State.
The Army Chief noted that security in the state has improved considerably since Governor Nwifuru assumed office and commended his administration’s collaboration with security agencies.
He also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting balanced national development across the country.

Lieutenant General Shaibu further expressed appreciation to the governor for donating three Toyota Hilux operational vehicles to the Nigerian Army, describing the gesture as a demonstration of genuine partnership and support.
“Your donation of three Toyota Hilux vans to the Army clearly demonstrates your commitment to supporting our operations, and we do not take it for granted,” the COAS said.
Governor Nwifuru and the Chief of Army Staff are expected to attend the historic maiden passing-out parade of newly trained soldiers at the Depot, Nigerian Army, Amasiri-Edda, on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in Ebonyi State’s contribution to Nigeria’s military training and national security architecture.
