Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has described the newly unveiled novel, EBUBENDU: The Glory of Life, as a timely and essential guide for character development, urging teenagers and parents to embrace its lessons on integrity, hard work, and responsible living.
The governor made the remarks during the official presentation and public unveiling of the book, authored by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Comrade Joseph Ugochukwu Onwe, at the Women Development Centre (WDC) in Abakaliki.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF, Governor Nwifuru commended the author for his commitment to journalism and literary excellence. He noted that the novel addresses the growing challenges confronting young people in the digital age by equipping them with values needed to resist cybercrime and other social vices while promoting honesty, diligence, and ethical conduct.
According to the governor, EBUBENDU: The Glory of Life is not only a literary masterpiece but also a practical survival guide that offers valuable lessons for both parents and teenagers across the Southeast and beyond.
Speaking through Prof. Nwogo Ajuka Obasi, the Chairman of the Occasion praised the author for producing a thought-provoking and content-rich work that tackles contemporary social issues affecting society.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Chike Emma Onwe expressed pride in the achievements of his former Mass Communication student at Ebonyi State University (EBSU). He described the novel as a significant contribution to society, noting that it comes at a time when many young people are increasingly attracted to the pursuit of quick wealth rather than the virtues of merit, discipline, and hard work.
In his review of the book, Associate Professor Odoh Ben Uruchi recommended that EBUBENDU: The Glory of Life be introduced into secondary school curricula across Ebonyi State. He observed that the novel effectively demonstrates that ethical leadership begins with sound personal character and serves as an inspiration for the younger generation.
The Chief Launcher, Engr. Dr. Darlington Ugota, represented by Prof. Chike Emma Onwe, lauded the author for producing a work with the potential to positively shape the lives of young people. He also pledged support towards ensuring the book reaches a wider audience.
The unveiling ceremony attracted several top government officials, academics, media executives, captains of industry, and literary enthusiasts. Among those in attendance were the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Hon. Magnus Chinedum Nkah; the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on IDC, Hon. Fidelis Inya; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor attached to the Deputy Governor’s Office, Hon. Mrs. Kelechi Aja-Ani; the Press Secretary to the First Lady and Personal Assistant on Press, Nnanne Oshibe, members of the State Executive Council, and other distinguished guests.
The event underscored the Ebonyi State Government’s continued support for educational initiatives and literary works aimed at promoting moral values, responsible leadership, and positive societal transformation.
