The All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued its campaign ahead of the forthcoming Local Government Council Elections in Ebonyi State with a major rally in Ezza South Local Government Area, where it formally presented Barr. Chinedu Mkpuma as its chairmanship candidate.
The campaign, held on Tuesday in Onueke, the headquarters of Ezza South LGA, showcased the party’s commitment to grassroots development and youth-driven leadership.
Barr. Mkpuma, a native of Ndufu Ezzama, was described by the party as a young, energetic, and visionary leader with the experience and competence required to advance development in the council area. A legal practitioner, he previously served as Development Centre Coordinator, a member of the Ebonyi State Land Use Allocation Committee, and immediate past Magistrate.
According to the APC, his emergence as the party’s flag bearer reflects the confidence reposed in capable young leaders by Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the party’s leadership, reinforcing its commitment to promoting visionary and responsible youths into public office.
Speaking on his plans for the local government, Barr. Mkpuma pledged to unite the people of Ezza South, strengthen security, empower young people, accelerate infrastructural development, and domesticate Governor Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs to ensure its benefits reach every community.
The party noted that the chairmanship candidate has engaged in extensive consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, women, youths, and other stakeholders across the local government, a move it said has earned him widespread acceptance and support.
As the APC campaign train arrived in Onueke, party faithful expressed optimism that Barr. Mkpuma’s blend of youthful energy, administrative experience, and leadership vision would position Ezza South for sustainable growth and inclusive grassroots governance.
