The Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, has felicitated with the Executive Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, his wife, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, and the people of Izzi land on the celebration of the annual Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival.
In a goodwill message marking the festival, Obila described Ojiji Izhi as a remarkable age-long cultural tradition that celebrates the harvest season while symbolising abundance, prosperity, joy and the blessings of nature.
She noted that the festival reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Izzi people, whose hospitality, industriousness and peaceful disposition, she said, have continued to earn them admiration across Ebonyi State.
The Deputy Governor urged the people of Izzi land to use the occasion to preserve and promote their cherished cultural values, while continuing to uphold the peace, unity, harmony and hospitality for which the community is known.
She expressed confidence that the celebration would further strengthen bonds of unity among the people and provide an opportunity to appreciate the blessings of the harvest season.
