A Permanent Member of the Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board (EB-SUBEB), Hon. Nwuzor Chijioke N., has commended the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for approving an additional ₦20,000 to the salaries of teachers under the Universal Basic Education Board and Local Government Area workers across the state.
In a statement made available to journalists, Hon. Nwuzor described the salary increment as a timely and compassionate intervention that demonstrates Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and strengthening the education sector.
Speaking on behalf of the teaching workforce of EB-SUBEB, he expressed profound appreciation to the Governor for recognizing the sacrifices and invaluable contributions of teachers in shaping the future of Ebonyi State.
According to him, the salary increase reflects the Governor’s unwavering dedication to education, noting that the sector continues to occupy a prominent place in the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda, particularly in the area of human capital development and quality service delivery.
Hon. Nwuzor also praised the ongoing transformation of basic education across the state, highlighting the construction of modern one-storey school buildings with 22 classrooms and administrative offices, which he said has significantly improved teaching and learning environments.
He further applauded the provision of instructional materials, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities, sports equipment, and other learning resources, describing them as strategic investments that are enhancing the quality of basic education and improving learning outcomes for pupils.
“The ₦20,000 salary increment is a welcome development that will undoubtedly boost teachers’ morale, improve productivity, and encourage greater dedication to duty,” he stated.
The EB-SUBEB Permanent Member assured Governor Nwifuru of the continued commitment, professionalism, and dedication of teachers to delivering quality education across the state.
He added that the present administration would be remembered for its remarkable investment in education and the welfare of teachers, describing the Governor’s policies as a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Ebonyi State.
