Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to the party’s chairmanship candidate for Edda Local Government Area, Hon. Simeon Oko Onuoha, ahead of the August 22, 2026 local government elections.
The presentation took place during a grand APC campaign rally in Edda Local Government Area, where the governor, represented by his deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, also commissioned several landmark infrastructure projects executed by the outgoing council administration.
Addressing party supporters, Princess Obila conveyed Governor Nwifuru’s appreciation to the people of Edda for their unwavering loyalty and steadfast support for the APC over the years. She urged party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilization across all political wards to ensure a resounding victory for the party at the forthcoming local government elections.
Describing the APC candidates as “marketable and credible products,” the deputy governor said their competence, integrity, and commitment to public service positioned them for electoral success.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Edda Local Government Area, Prince Chima Ekumankama, highlighted the achievements of his administration, noting that the projects executed under his leadership were deliberately designed to complement Governor Nwifuru’s development blueprint under the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
Ekumankama assured the governor and the APC leadership that the party would secure a comprehensive victory in the August 22 council polls.
Also speaking, the Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, expressed confidence that the people of Edda would once again demonstrate their overwhelming support for the ruling party through a massive turnout on election day.
Similarly, the Chairman of the State APC Local Government Campaign Council, Ambassador Frank Ogbuewu, assured party leaders that the APC was well-positioned to record victory across all elective positions in the local government.
The Chief Whip of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nkemka Okoro Onuma, described Edda as a traditional APC stronghold and pledged that the electorate would deliver overwhelming support for the party’s candidates.
In his acceptance remarks, the APC Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Simeon Oko Onuoha, thanked the party leadership and the people of Edda for the confidence reposed in him. He appealed for massive support at the polls and pledged to deliver meaningful democratic dividends, improve infrastructure, and promote inclusive development if elected.
As part of the day’s activities, Governor Nwifuru, through his deputy, commissioned several legacy projects undertaken by the Edda Local Government Council. The projects included an ultra-modern Civic Centre, the Edda Regional Market Complex, and the newly constructed Council Chairman’s Quarters, all aimed at enhancing governance, commerce, and public service delivery in the area.
The rally attracted top government officials and party stalwarts, including the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa; Senator Anthony Okorie Ani, representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District; members of the State Executive Council; traditional leaders; women and youth groups; and thousands of APC supporters from across the local government area.
The event further underscored the APC’s campaign momentum in Ebonyi State as political activities intensify ahead of the August 22 local government elections.
