The Ebonyi State Government, through the Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EBSMEDA), has commenced another initiative to support entrepreneurs by providing free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration for eligible businesses across the state.
The initiative is aimed at helping businesses transition from the informal sector to the formal economy, providing entrepreneurs with a stronger legal and institutional foundation to operate, access opportunities and expand their businesses.
The programme is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to remove barriers confronting small and medium-sized businesses and create a more conducive environment for entrepreneurship and economic growth in Ebonyi State.
According to the state government, the initiative is open to entrepreneurs and businesses seeking to register as Limited Liability Companies (LLCs).
Applicants are required to provide a passport photograph, a valid means of identification such as the National Identification Number (NIN), international passport, driver’s licence or voter’s card, as well as a scanned signature.
Other personal information required includes the applicant’s full name, date of birth, gender, phone number, residential address, local government area and state of origin, email address, occupation and NIN.
Applicants will also be required to provide three proposed business names, the business address and state, a description of the nature of the business and details of the shareholding structure where applicable.
The state government said the intervention reflects its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening the capacity of local businesses to operate formally and take advantage of available economic opportunities.
The initiative is being implemented under the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda led by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Interested entrepreneurs have been directed to visit the Staff Development Centre, behind St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Abakaliki, for further enquiries.
