Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has expressed his administration’s readiness to deepen the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce transportation costs and strengthen the state’s emerging clean-energy economy.
Governor Nwifuru stated this when he received the leadership of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Electric Vehicles at his office in Ochoudo City, Abakaliki.
The delegation was led by the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the initiative, Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed.The engagement focused on exploring opportunities for expanding CNG and electric mobility infrastructure and adoption across Ebonyi State.
According to the governor, the initiative goes beyond the provision of alternative sources of energy, stressing that it has the potential to reduce transportation costs for residents, create employment opportunities, support businesses and stimulate new investments in the emerging clean-energy sector.
He said the state’s interest in CNG and electric mobility aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is also consistent with the objectives of the Ebonyi State Government’s People’s Charter of Needs.
Nwifuru particularly noted that the initiative supports his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic empowerment, adding that the state would continue to embrace strategic partnerships capable of delivering tangible benefits to its citizens.
“As a government, we will continue to embrace strategic partnerships that bring tangible benefits to our people and advance Ebonyi’s development,” the governor said.
He added that his administration was committed to building an Ebonyi State that is more prosperous, sustainable and adequately prepared to take advantage of future economic opportunities.
The meeting underscores the state government’s growing focus on cleaner transportation solutions and partnerships aimed at improving mobility, lowering costs and expanding economic opportunities for residents.
