The Newly-Employed EBSU First-Class forum, an umbrella body of first-class graduates of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) recently appointed as academic staff by the Ebonyi State Government, has unanimously endorsed Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general election.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an expanded stakeholders’ meeting of the forum held on June 28, 2026.
The forum attributed its decision to what it described as Governor Nwifuru’s “sterling leadership qualities” and his administration’s achievements across key sectors of the state’s economy under the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
According to the communiqué signed by the Chairman of the forum, Comrade Agu Israel Nwodom; President of FON Scholars, United Kingdom, Comrade Nweze Isaiah; and the forum’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Igwe Basil Chisom, the governor’s policies have brought significant improvements in education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, industrialisation, rural development and human capital development.
The group particularly commended the governor’s intervention in the education sector, noting that he approved the immediate employment of first-class graduates as academic staff of Ebonyi State University and awarded them fully funded PhD scholarships in universities within Nigeria and abroad.
The forum further described Governor Nwifuru as the first governor in the South-East to employ qualified graduates from all five states of the region into a state-owned university while simultaneously sponsoring their doctoral studies.It maintained that the governor’s developmental strides have positioned him favourably ahead of the 2027 governorship election and pledged its unwavering support for his re-election bid
The forum expressed confidence that a second term would enable Governor Nwifuru to consolidate on the gains recorded under his administration and continue implementing policies aimed at advancing the development of Ebonyi State.Reaffirming its commitment to the governor’s administration, the forum concluded with the slogan, “Let the good work continue,” while expressing optimism that his leadership would continue until 2031.
