The Ebonyi State Government has commenced the FON 4 Tech Initiative, with a total of 829 participants enrolled in the digital skills development programme designed to equip young people with relevant skills for the emerging digital economy.
The initiative, implemented through the Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EBSMEDA), focuses on four critical areas of the digital economy, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI) Automation, Web Development, Graphic Design and Web 3.
Out of the 829 participants enrolled in the programme, 353 are undergoing training in AI Automation, 222 in Web Development, 191 in Graphic Design, while 63 participants are enrolled in Web 3.
The programme also recorded significant female participation, with 223 women among the 829 beneficiaries. This, according to the state government, reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring that women and young people are adequately equipped to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
The figures underscore the growing investment by the Ebonyi State Government in human capital development, particularly in areas capable of creating opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, innovation and economic independence.
The administration said the initiative represents another step towards preparing the people of Ebonyi State for the rapidly evolving digital economy, where technological skills are increasingly becoming essential for economic participation and sustainable development.
The programme is part of the government’s broader efforts to empower its citizens with practical skills and create pathways for young people to take advantage of emerging opportunities in technology and digital enterprise.
“The future is digital. Ebonyi is preparing its people for it,” the statement said, attributing the initiative to the purposeful leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
