The Ebonyi State Government has commenced a one-week free digital skills training programme under the FON4-TECH Initiative, aimed at equipping young Ebonyians with practical skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
The training, organised through the Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EBSMEDA), under the leadership of its Director-General, Dr. Stephen Odoh, is being implemented in collaboration with Mutech Afrique.
The programme, which commenced today, Monday, September 14, and will run until Friday, September 18, 2026, is taking place at the Staff Development Centre, Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, with daily sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Participants are being trained in Web Development, Graphic Design, Web3 and AI Automation by experienced tutors in a practical learning environment.
The initiative is designed not only to expose participants to emerging technologies but also to equip them with relevant skills that can enhance their employability, creativity and capacity to establish sustainable digital enterprises.
The state government said the programme represents another deliberate investment in the capacity and economic independence of Ebonyians, particularly young people, by providing them with the knowledge and skills required to compete in an increasingly digital world.
The initiative also reflects the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s continued commitment to human capital development and youth empowerment, with emphasis on equipping citizens with practical skills to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
Through programmes such as FON4-TECH, EBSMEDA is strengthening the state’s entrepreneurial and technological ecosystem while supporting the transition of young people from job seekers to skilled professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs.
The organisers congratulated all participants and wished them a successful and rewarding training experience.
The FON4-TECH training runs from September 14 to 18, 2026, at the Staff Development Centre, Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, from 10:00 a.m. daily.
