The Ebonyi State Government says its ongoing reforms in the basic education sector are creating equal learning opportunities for pupils across the state through the introduction of unified textbooks and the free distribution of instructional materials to public schools.
According to the government, the initiative, introduced under the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is designed to ensure that every child, regardless of location or background, has access to the same quality learning resources.
The reform includes the adoption of standardized textbooks, as well as the free provision of textbooks and exercise books to pupils and students in public schools. The policy aims to establish a common academic standard across the state’s education system, improve classroom instruction, and promote consistency in teaching and learning.
Government officials say the initiative has laid a strong foundation for improved academic performance, noting that the availability of quality learning materials has contributed to Ebonyi State’s emergence as one of Nigeria’s top-performing states in the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.
The administration maintains that quality education begins with providing teachers and learners with the right instructional resources, adding that equal access to learning materials is essential for building a fair and effective education system.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining investments in the education sector, emphasizing that every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed, irrespective of where they live.
