The University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering (UAAE), Ezza, Ebonyi State, is steadily positioning itself as a pioneering institution designed to redefine the future of aviation, technology, and scientific innovation in Nigeria and Africa.
Unlike conventional universities established solely for degree programmes, UAAE was conceived as a centre for advanced learning, research, and practical training in aeronautics, aerospace engineering, and emerging technologies.
The institution has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 25 academic programmes across four faculties, with admissions already open into key disciplines including Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Cybersecurity and Intelligence, Software Engineering, Forensic Science, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, among others.
Beyond academic offerings, UAAE is focused on providing students with industry-driven experiences through strategic partnerships and practical exposure.
Through its collaboration with Terra Industries, a leading indigenous UAV and aerospace technology company in Nigeria, students will have opportunities to acquire hands-on knowledge in drone design, manufacturing, maintenance, and deployment as part of their academic training.
The university is also partnering with the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) to strengthen laboratory-based learning and research, while its international affiliation with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Dubna, and Dubna State University, Russia, provides opportunities for eligible students to pursue part of their studies abroad with institutional support.
Meanwhile, construction work at the university’s permanent site is progressing, with key facilities including faculty buildings, student hostels, staff quarters, and administrative structures currently under development to support the institution’s long-term vision.
The establishment and growth of UAAE reflect the commitment of the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru towards expanding access to specialised education and building human capital capable of driving innovation and industrial development.
The university’s vision is to produce highly skilled professionals in aerospace engineering, nuclear technology, cybersecurity, computing, and other critical fields that will contribute to Nigeria’s advancement in aviation, science, technology, and research.
With its ambitious programmes, strategic partnerships, and expanding infrastructure, UAAE is emerging as a landmark educational project aimed at preparing the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
As Ebonyi State continues to invest in specialised education, the University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering represents a bold step towards making the future of aviation and technology a present reality.
