The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Chief Chukwuma Odii, of sponsoring cyberbullying and propaganda against Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Ogah made the allegations while addressing journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, where he urged Odii to abandon what he described as acts of political desperation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The federal lawmaker alleged that Odii, whom he described as still living in self-deceit following his defeat in the 2023 governorship election, had resorted to sponsoring online attacks against Governor Nwifuru instead of engaging in issue-based politics.
He further alleged that Odii had enlisted the support of some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register underage voters in his Isu community in Onicha Local Government Area, describing the alleged act as an attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
According to Ogah, no one is opposed to Odii’s political ambition, but he should pursue it through lawful and democratic means rather than propaganda, character assassination, and cyberbullying.
“We are watching all that Anyichuks is doing—going to INEC to carry out fake voter registration, sponsoring cyberbullying, cyberstalking, propaganda, and character assassination against our performing governor, who has positively impacted Ebonyi State through the People’s Charter of Needs,” Ogah said.
He further alleged that Odii pays some INEC officials to register underage voters in Onicha Local Government Area, insisting that such efforts would not determine the outcome of the governorship election.
Ogah challenged the PDP chieftain to demonstrate his contributions to the development of Ebonyi State by identifying the people he has empowered, the industries he has established, and other projects he has executed that would justify his governorship ambition.
The lawmaker contrasted Odii’s record with that of Governor Nwifuru, whom he credited with awarding foreign and local scholarships to students, constructing roads, and executing various developmental projects across the state, including in Onicha Local Government Area.
Ogah also highlighted his own record of community service before joining politics, saying he had provided electricity, built bridges and culverts, and executed other projects in several communities within Ikwo Local Government Area.
He said those contributions earned him the confidence of the people of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, who have continued to elect him to represent them in the National Assembly.
While acknowledging his personal relationship with Odii, Ogah maintained that friendship should not be mistaken for political endorsement.
“He is my friend, and we relate as friends and age mates, but politics is different. He has not done enough to qualify for the governorship and has not held any public office that prepared him for such responsibility. You must count one before you count two,” he said.
