Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has urged residents across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas to participate peacefully and responsibly in the ongoing Local Government Elections.
Governor Nwifuru, in a message to the people of the state on Election Day, described the exercise as an important opportunity for citizens to exercise their democratic responsibility and contribute to the development of their communities.
He emphasised the importance of local government administration, noting that it remains the level of government closest to the people and plays a significant role in decisions and services that directly affect communities.
The governor encouraged voters to come out peacefully, respect the electoral process and conduct themselves responsibly, stressing that democracy begins at the grassroots.
Nwifuru also commended Ebonyians for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during the election and urged them to sustain the peace, unity and brotherhood for which the state is known.
He called on the people to place the collective interest of Ebonyi State above every other consideration as they participate in the electoral process.
“Let us participate peacefully, respect the process and continue to put the interest of Ebonyi above every other consideration,” the governor said.
He concluded by praying for the continued blessings of the people and the state.
“May God bless the people of Ebonyi State. May God bless Ebonyi State,” he said.
