The Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Eze Paul Ituma (Ngbolizhia), has inspected some Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the council area as part of efforts to assess the condition of the facilities and monitor the commitment of health workers to their duties.
The inspection, according to the council boss, is in line with the vision of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and the People’s Charter of Needs agenda of his administration, particularly the commitment to ensuring that Primary Health Centres remain functional and accessible to the people.
Eze Paul Ituma stressed that PHCs are critical to healthcare delivery, especially in rural communities, as they remain the closest healthcare facilities to many residents.
He said his administration would continue to work towards ensuring that the people of Ohaukwu, particularly pregnant women and other vulnerable residents, have access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
“We will ensure that our people, especially the pregnant mothers, have access to quality and affordable healthcare,” he stated.
The Ohaukwu chairman also appealed to healthcare workers across the council area to take their responsibilities seriously and remain committed to providing services to residents who depend on the facilities.
While expressing concern over the need for improved commitment in some areas, Ituma commended health workers who demonstrated genuine dedication to their duties during the inspection.
He said the council would continue to monitor the operation of its PHCs and encourage personnel who are committed to delivering effective healthcare services to the people.
The inspection underscores the importance of strengthening primary healthcare delivery at the grassroots, in keeping with the broader healthcare objectives of the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
He reiterated his commitment to responsive grassroots leadership, stressing that the welfare and wellbeing of the people must remain at the centre of the council’s activities.
