The Ebonyi State Civil Service Commission has commenced the 2026 confirmation exercise for civil servants who have successfully completed two years on probation.
The exercise, which began on September 3, 2026, is scheduled to run until September 30, 2026, and will be conducted ministry by ministry at the Civil Service Commission, Block 10, Centenary City, Abakaliki.
A total of 1,827 civil servants across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are expected to participate in the exercise.
The confirmation of appointments is expected to provide eligible workers with greater job security and stability while strengthening their confidence and commitment to the state civil service.
The exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to improve the welfare and working conditions of civil servants in line with the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
According to information released in connection with the exercise, the schedule commenced on September 3 with 116 staff drawn from the Ministries of Education, Women Affairs, College of Health Sciences and other establishments.
On September 4, 117 staff from Youth Development and Sports, Information and State Orientation and other establishments are scheduled for the exercise.
The schedule continues on September 7 with 120 staff from Survey, Local Government Audit, RUWASSA, Budget, Fertilizer and other agencies, while 111 staff from Housing, Water Resources, Commerce, Skill Development, SEMA and other establishments are scheduled for September 9.
A total of 117 staff from Justice, EB ADEP, Works, Governor’s Office, Culture and Tourism, Lands and Survey are scheduled for September 10.
The State Hospitals Management Board has 311 staff scheduled for September 11 and 14, while 124 staff from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development are scheduled for September 15.
On September 16, 118 staff from the Ministries of Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources are expected to participate.
The Head of Service is scheduled to present 373 staff for the exercise on September 17 and 18.
Similarly, 143 staff from Health, Local and Chieftaincy Matters, and Rural Development are scheduled for September 21, while 177 staff from various MDAs, including the Governor’s Office, Deputy Governor’s Office and Civil Service Commission, are scheduled for September 22 and 23.
The daily exercise is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m.
The state government has also previously undertaken confirmation exercises for workers in other establishments. The Civil Service Commission reportedly completed the confirmation of staff of the state airport in 2025.
The latest exercise is expected to further regularise the appointments of eligible civil servants and provide them with the stability associated with confirmed appointments.
