Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has charged newly inaugurated members of boards and agencies to provide strategic direction and effective leadership toward achieving the objectives for which their respective institutions were established.
Governor Nwifuru gave the charge on Friday at his office in Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, while inaugurating newly appointed chairmen, coordinators and members of various state boards and agencies.

Those inaugurated included Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha as Chairman of the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences, Ezzangbo; Chief Chukwuma Charles Ofoke as Chairman of the Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency (EBCSDA); and Hon. Alphonsus Nwali as Chairman of the Ebonyi State Library Board.
Also inaugurated were Baron Enya Ogbonnia as Coordinator of the Amasiri Development Centre; Obinna Oko Eyum as Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security in charge of Afikpo; Mrs. Patience Gabby Idam as a member of the Women Development Centre; and Nwokedi Amadi as a member of the Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The governor explained that the reconstitution of the boards and agencies was part of efforts to strengthen their operations and ensure that they effectively fulfil the purposes for which they were established.

Speaking on the Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency, Governor Nwifuru said the agency was directly connected to his administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda, stressing the importance of selecting individuals capable of delivering meaningful development to the people.
“Community Development Agency is an agency that deals with the people in line with the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda of our government,” he said.

On the Ebonyi State Library Board, the governor said his administration was committed to equipping libraries to promote intellectual development and encourage young people to engage in research and learning rather than using social media for unproductive activities.
He said the development of library facilities would help address what he described as moral and intellectual drift among youths by providing them with opportunities to acquire knowledge and remain intellectually engaged.

At the College of Health Sciences, Ezzangbo, Governor Nwifuru directed the newly inaugurated board members to work closely with the institution’s management to address security challenges affecting the college.
He further charged Baron Enya Ogbonnia, Coordinator of the Amasiri Development Centre, and Obinna Oko Eyum, Special Assistant on Internal Security, to work toward promoting peace, security and social development in Amasiri and Afikpo.

According to the governor, peace and social development remain central to the administration’s development agenda.
Governor Nwifuru urged all the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of Ebonyi State.
