The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on New Media, Leo Ekene Oketa, has attributed the prevailing peace in Ebonyi State to the deliberate and strategic leadership of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, saying the state’s peaceful atmosphere is the result of intentional policies rather than mere coincidence.
Oketa, in a statement issued on Friday, said Governor Nwifuru has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property, describing security as one of the administration’s top priorities.
According to him, the governor’s decision to appoint Special Assistants on Internal Security across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state was a proactive strategy aimed at strengthening the state’s internal security framework and ensuring that government remained closely connected to communities at the grassroots.
He clarified that the Special Assistants were not established to replace statutory security agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), or other security institutions. Instead, he explained, they serve as vital links between the government, local communities, and security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, coordination, and rapid response.
Oketa also commended the officers and personnel of the various security agencies serving in Ebonyi State for their professionalism, dedication, and collaboration with the state government, noting that their efforts have played a significant role in maintaining law and order across the state.
He emphasized that Governor Nwifuru recognizes that lasting peace cannot be achieved through government action alone but requires active collaboration among security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents.
“The Governor understands his people and has built a security approach that recognizes the importance of community participation. That is why the peace we enjoy in Ebonyi today is not accidental. It is intentional, strategic, and collaborative,” he stated.
Oketa further described Governor Nwifuru as “a man of peace,” adding that the administration’s inclusive approach to governance and security continues to strengthen public confidence and contribute to the stability currently enjoyed across Ebonyi State.
He maintained that the peaceful environment in the state demonstrates what can be achieved when responsible leadership, effective security institutions, and active citizen participation work together toward a common goal.
