The Ebonyi State Governor and Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has commissioned several landmark projects executed by the outgoing Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area, Hon. Chinonso Ajah, as the APC commenced its campaign ahead of the August 22, 2026 local government elections.
The projects were commissioned during the party’s grand campaign flag-off in Ohaozara LGA, where Governor Nwifuru, represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF, also presented the APC flag to the party’s chairmanship candidate, Engr. Osborn Nweze Umahi, and his running mate.
Speaking at the event, Governor Nwifuru commended Hon. Chinonso Ajah for what he described as visionary leadership and the execution of high-impact projects that are in line with his administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
The Governor urged the people of Ohaozara to vote massively for all APC candidates in the forthcoming council elections.
He also commended the Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, for his contributions to national development and expressed confidence that his son, Engr. Osborn Nweze Umahi, would replicate his father’s record of performance if elected chairman of the council.
The APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Alphonsus Nwali, expressed confidence in the party’s strength in Ohaozara and urged residents to demonstrate their support for the APC through massive turnout on election day.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the State APC Local Government Campaign Council, Amb. Frank Ogbuewu; Chairman of the Ohaozara Campaign Council, Ogbuefi Enekwachi Akpa; Chairman of the Occasion, Hon. Kama Nkemkanma; and Hon. Chikezie Igu, said the party was fully mobilised to secure victory for all its candidates in the local government elections.
The outgoing Chairman of Ohaozara LGA, Hon. Chinonso Ajah, expressed appreciation to Governor Nwifuru for granting local government councils administrative autonomy.
Ajah said he was leaving office fulfilled, having implemented projects aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of the people of the council area.
Among the projects commissioned were the Senator David Nweze Umahi Health Centre in Mgbom Ugwulangwu, Odenigbo Regional Market in Okposi, and the Barrister Chioma Nweze Health Centre in Mebi/Ameke, Okposi, among others.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike; Commissioner for Agriculture, Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku; Commissioner for ICT, Hon. Godwin Chuku; SA on Internal Security, Ohaozara, Hon. Stanley Kamani; SA on Culture and Tourism, Comrade Nasir Ernest Nweze, PhD; and the APC Zonal Chairman, also expressed support for the Nwifuru administration and the APC candidates.
They assured the governor and the party leadership of Ohaozara’s continued support for the APC.
In his acceptance speech, the APC chairmanship candidate, Engr. Osborn Nweze Umahi, thanked Governor Nwifuru, the party leadership and the people of Ohaozara for their support.
Umahi promised to usher in a new era of development and effective governance if elected, assuring the electorate that he would hit the ground running immediately after his inauguration on September 1, 2026.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa, among other government officials, party leaders, stakeholders and supporters.
