In a statement issued on Monday, Oketa said the establishment of the university underscores the administration’s commitment to transforming the education sector and preparing Ebonyi youths for opportunities in the rapidly evolving global technology landscape.
According to him, the University of ICT was established to produce a new generation of software engineers, cybersecurity experts, data scientists, ICT professionals, architects, engineers, entrepreneurs, and other highly skilled graduates capable of driving innovation and economic development.
He noted that the institution offers programmes in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mass Communication, Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Health Information Management, and other disciplines aimed at producing solution-oriented graduates.
Oketa further stated that while academic activities have commenced, construction of the university’s permanent campus at Offerekpe is progressing steadily.
“When completed, it will stand as a world-class institution and a lasting symbol of Ebonyi State’s commitment to knowledge, innovation and human capital development,” he said.
He added that the University of ICT, Offerekpe, represents Governor Nwifuru’s vision of building a technology-driven future for Ebonyi State through sustained investment in education, innovation, and human capital development.
