The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Hon. Sunday Elechi Inyima, has commenced an intensive statewide inspection of ongoing projects being executed by the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, reaffirming the government’s commitment to quality infrastructure delivery and strict project supervision.
Leading the monitoring team on Tuesday, Hon. Elechi was accompanied by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Engr. Chukwuma Nwiboko, and the Special Assistant, Hon. Ajah Philemon, as they inspected several strategic infrastructure projects across the state.
During a visit to the ongoing flyover construction at Nwezenyi, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, describing the progress as impressive and consistent with Governor Nwifuru’s vision for sustainable infrastructure development.
“The level of work here is commendable. This is in line with His Excellency’s vision of delivering lasting infrastructure for the people of Ebonyi State,” Hon. Elechi said.
However, the inspection team expressed concern over the pace of work and the quality of execution at the Iziogo Agbaja Tunnel project. Consequently, the Commissioner directed the contractor handling the project to appear before the Ministry to explain the delays and address concerns over the standard of work.
At the ongoing Onuenyim Bridge project, Hon. Elechi underscored the economic and strategic significance of the bridge, noting that it would strengthen connectivity between Ebonyi and neighbouring Benue State.
“The bridge will serve as a direct link with our Benue brothers and sisters. It will enhance interstate relationships, facilitate trade, and improve the movement of people and goods between both states,” he stated.
Other projects inspected during the tour included the ongoing construction of internal roads at the University of ICT, Oferekpe; the ultra-modern building project at the General Hospital, Oferekpe; the 12-kilometre Iziogo Road; and the Ogbaga Randa Bridge.
Hon. Elechi reaffirmed the Ministry’s resolve to ensure that all contractors adhere strictly to approved specifications, maintain high construction standards, and complete projects within the stipulated timelines.
He warned that the Ministry would not hesitate to recommend appropriate sanctions against any contractor found to have fallen short of contractual obligations or compromised the quality of work.
